Lydia Carpenter


Lydia Carpenter was born in China and grew up in Dekalb County Illinois. Her first experience with Elements was at 14 during summer workshop which introduced her to contemporary ballet. Now beginning her first season with Elements Ballet is like coming full circle!

A graduate at age 18 with a BFA in dance performance from Northern Illinois University with Judith Chitwood, Autumn Eckman, Rich Grund, Matthew Keefe and Paula Frasz, Lydia danced on scholarship and was awarded the most Talented Dancer upon graduation. Roles with NIU Dance Theater include White Swan soloist, Lucille Grahn in Pas de Quatre, supporting soloist in Esmerelda and the Spartacus duet. Pre-professional training includes The Art of Classical Ballet in Florida with Magaly Suarez, Ruth Page Dance Center of Chicago with Randy Newsom, Alma School of Dance in Wheaton IL with Vilma Machin and Faubourg School of Dance in Hanover Park Il with Watmora Casey, Vilma Machin and Tatiana Mazur. At age 12 Lydia performed in the children's cast with the Joffery Ballet of Chicago.

Lydia's professional career includes working with Victoria Vargas on her videos for The 5th Position Method, Guest Artist with Beth Fowler's School of Dance in the roles of Lilac Fairy and Sugar Plum Fairy. Schaumburg Dance Ensemble and Alma Dance Theaters professional cast for 2016 Nutcrackers. Currently Lydia is the Junior Varsity coach for the Huntly High School dance team as well as teaching extensively at two studios.
